Faubourg Lafitte Redevelopment

Affordable public housing, rental and for-sale homes after Hurricane Katrina

The Faubourg Lafitte redevelopment was designed with local vernacular architecture styles to replace public and private housing that was left vacant after Hurricane Katrina. The new, on-site buildings in the Tremé / Lafitte neighborhood comprise over 417 living quarters in approximately 220 buildings. Buildings include single-family detached houses, duplexes, and multi-family residential apartments, of which 144 units were for sale. Additionally, 100 off-site units in the Tulane / Gravier neighborhood were built on scattered sites in the heart of the city.

Salazar Architect, consulting architect, contributed to the design and construction documents. MWA was prime.
