Two Sacramento Housing Developments open
We’re pleased to announce that two of our major developments in Sacramento, Cornerstone, and Mutual on the Boulevard, have completed construction, allowing more than 200 households to move into the apartments and enjoy the safety and stability of a home.
Mass Casitas: Modular, Affordable Housing for Oregon
Oregon is facing a housing crisis in nearly every county, and in recent years the scarcity of affordable housing has been worsened by several devastating wildfires. In response to this broadening housing crisis, Hacienda CDC and Salazar are developing, designing, and testing modular, mass timber housing prototypes. This pilot project sets the stage for (1) creating housing prototypes that can be rapidly constructed and delivered to sites across Oregon; and (2) bolstering economic development through the creation of manufacturing jobs at a future mass timber production facility.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States, and in honor of this, we are sharing a brief look at Latinx representation in architecture, and most importantly, celebrating our Latinx team members’ career paths and the richness they bring to our work and firm.
Community Design Lab - Process and Outcomes
The Community Design Lab (CDL) is one way Salazar grounds our projects in equity– by involving the users of the building and intentionally engaging the communities who usually don’t have a seat at the table. Most importantly, we share decision-making power with them. Our roots are in community organizing, and we feel a particular affinity to work that allows us to explore the intersection of community design with community organizing– especially among groups that directly serve culturally-specific populations.
Sustainability Action Plan: 2nd edition
Our team is fundamentally committed to equitable, sustainable design and to bringing environmental justice outcomes to the historically disenfranchised communities we serve.
